After much discussion and consideration we have decided we do not want material gifts for Christmas this year. We want to make Christmas about something more. We want to make it about spending time with the people we love. So now would be a great time to make a plan to do something fun with all of The Alyn Family, or you could make a plan with one or both of our kids, and give Egg and I some time together.
Please watch this video.
You may send a gift to Oskar and Xavier if you feel the need to, but please nothing for Egg or I. If you feel you need to do something for us, please donate to a charity in our name.

A big storm blew through today and as a result, we’ll be without phone service until the 17th (or there abouts according to Quest). It was due to a downed tree collecting the telephone wire on it’s way down. Took out cable TV/internet as well, although Charter has restored that. If you need to get a hold of us call our cell phones. Lots of photos below. (more…)

Peter Jackson to Film the Hobbit

TheOneRing.net reports that Peter Jackson, the master mind behind the Lord of the Rings Trilogy based on JRR Tolkien’s story will be filming the Hobbit! It’s funny because just last night I decided to pop one of the old DVD’s into the player and watched the first disc in the trilogy. Only a couple of short years and I know what I’ll be doing. It’s mine, my precioussssssssss….

I decided to check out the weather this morning to see if the race this weekend would be wet or dry. Much to my surprise, it looks like most of the country is going to see wet in the next 36 hours. Snow in Illinois
Monday, February 12th, 2007We’ve gotten some snow here in Illinois. It really feels like winter when the snow doesn’t go away a few minutes after it falls. Oskar’s doing very well in school and we’re pulling Xavier out (we think) since he’s hating going and there’s really no good reason for him to be there. Gretchen’s keeping the boys in line and I’ve been working way too much still – I am looking forward to autocrossing this year – but that’s still a few months away.
