Busy Saturday

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

Yesterday we sure did a lot! Patty, Kathy and us went to the Rochester Farmers Market and picked up some more meat and then headed to Avocados for a nice lunch before Patty hit the road. Xavier and I then went for a sleepy time drive and drove through the parking lot at the local VW dealer and spotted a nice new R32 while Oskar worked on Times Attack, a multiplication memorization game he’s enjoying these days. After X finally crashed, Oskar and I worked on bottling the homebrew. It’s smelled amazing and after getting primed with a little light malt tasted pretty good too. Just 4 more weeks of bottle conditioning and I can try some! After that it was time to wake up Xavier and the boys played nicely for about an hour. Gretchen still had more Montessori work to do so we headed to the RAC for Pizza and some play time. We ended up spending nearly 3 hours there climbing, running and having a good time. It was time for bed when we got home and despite not wanting to sleep, even Xavier was asleep by 8:45pm.

Redskins Game (They Won!)

Monday, December 24th, 2007

Kevin bought Vikings vs. Redskins tickets for the game last night as a Christmas present for the big boys in the family. I uploaded all of the photos I took during the game from our insanely good 2nd row seats. We had a great view of the game and some of the action so close we could make calls before they were reviewed from the pictures (after the link below you can see them all.) Be warned — there’s about 150 pictures there so it might take a while to load. Despite wearing Redskins colors, the fans were pretty good to everyone and there were only two fights on our side of the dome. (more…)

Gretchen Bakes: Part 2

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

As a follow-up to the original Gretchen Bakes post, we’ve been assembling and decorating Gingerbread houses this morning. Assembly began bright and early (along with some sampling of the candy) and wrapped up a little bit ago. Oskar worked very hard to decorate the “yard” of his house, while Xavier and I worked on a mix of the “yard” and the “house”. Gretchen did the major construction efforts of the three houses making them take shape. We still have one blank slate to go. (more…)

Gretchen Bakes: Part 1

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

Today Gretchen spent the better part of the afternoon making Gingerbread house pieces so that tomorrow the grand assembly can begin. She has made 3 amazing looking blank sets of house pieces ready to become the master pieces of young hands. She also made a really great batch of toffee too!

Car Insurance???

Saturday, August 12th, 2006

So we’re doing a three day no driving experiment since I forgot to pay our insurance premium on time and our Insurance won’t be instated until Monday. So far we have survived pretty well. I’m also back on South Beach Diet again, looking for a 30lb. drop in weight this time - wish me luck.
