Nickelodeon Universe, Mall of America

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

Yesterday Gretchen and Pammy took Erik and Xavier up to the Mall of America to explore and the kids of course fell in love with Nickelodeon Universe, the theme park that replaced the Snoopy/Peanuts park earlier this month. A great time was had by all and Erik was the great uncle taking little Xavier on as many rides as he was able to. More photos after the link… (more…)

Rochester Photostroll

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

Yesterday the boys and I went for an after dinner walk / photostroll around the neighborhood. I snapped off a few pics on my cell phone here. I love the old prairie style architecture that’s so prevalent here - oh and the kids are cute too! (more…)

Gretchen Hired

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Starting this fall, Gretchen will resume teaching at Rainbow School here in Rochester. This is exciting for two reasons, 1. She’ll be able to get back to work and 2. Xavier will be attending there as well! She’s still working through her Montessori course work and will be finishing that up right around the time school goes back into session.

Egg Mentioned in NY Times

Monday, March 17th, 2008

New York Times Logo The New York Times is running a fluff story about Honesty Box today (something I’ve done a little work on :P ). The short piece by Joanne Kaufman, touches briefly on some of the important questions surrounding anonymity online but doesn’t get into anything substantive around policy or moral and ethical considerations. It does however give a nice background on what Honesty Box is.

Spend More Money at Slumberland and SAVE LESS!!!

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Slumberlands Questionable Deal Occassionally, I see something that just strikes me as stupid and I feel compelled to tell the whole world about it. This Slumberland offer just piqued my interest. The deal is simple, the more money you spend with them, the more money they knock off the total price - sort of. If you look at this as a ratio, money saved per dollar spent, you actually save more money by spending less! The rest of the rant follows after the jump. (more…)

Beer Madness

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Sunday Source Beer Madness from Washington Post Everyone knows what a huge sports fan I am… HA! So Kathy found this one at Washington Post and sent it along to me today. It’s the best of March madness in my opinion. Perhaps I’ll do some digging at the local liquor shops and do my own taste along…

Xavier’s Birthday!

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

Well, officially it was yesterday, but I wasn’t up to the task of writing a post about it. With over 150 pictures on Flickr, it was too much to cull through. Friday we headed out to the Kalahari in the Wisconsin Dells. Xavier had a blast in the water and in just about everything else he did. (more…)

Erik Has Arrived

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

Erik flew in today… and boy are his arms tired! Okay, bad joke, he’s here and seems happy to be so. He was able to partake of some snow play, picking Oskar up from school and a trip to the RAC to burn off some energy.

Wii Are Back!

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

Nintendo Wii Console UPS just dropped off our Nintendo Wii. Happy to say it appears fully functional once again - now where can I hid this thing so Xavier can’t get to it?

Busy Saturday

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

Yesterday we sure did a lot! Patty, Kathy and us went to the Rochester Farmers Market and picked up some more meat and then headed to Avocados for a nice lunch before Patty hit the road. Xavier and I then went for a sleepy time drive and drove through the parking lot at the local VW dealer and spotted a nice new R32 while Oskar worked on Times Attack, a multiplication memorization game he’s enjoying these days. After X finally crashed, Oskar and I worked on bottling the homebrew. It’s smelled amazing and after getting primed with a little light malt tasted pretty good too. Just 4 more weeks of bottle conditioning and I can try some! After that it was time to wake up Xavier and the boys played nicely for about an hour. Gretchen still had more Montessori work to do so we headed to the RAC for Pizza and some play time. We ended up spending nearly 3 hours there climbing, running and having a good time. It was time for bed when we got home and despite not wanting to sleep, even Xavier was asleep by 8:45pm.
