So I finally finished my first woodworking project, sort of a mixed bag, the joints are a little sloppy, the finish is okay but the real mistake was a shelf that was an inch too short. As they say, measure twice cut once! So yesterday I started planing boards for a workbench. Gretchen thoughtfully pointed out how poor of a job I was doing with my hand plane (thanks Gretchen)… after an additional hour of fixing that mistake, I am well on my way to having a work surface that should help me keep things square as I head into my next bookshelf project. Now I just need to cut that board a little longer this time.
